Diggerland Adventure Park.

County Durham.

Well, what a surprise visiting this wonderful adventure land. This is a theme park with a difference, from 20 rides and drives available for all ages – and not a Bob the Builder in sight (much to hubby’s dismay). Currently, four parks have been constructed in the UK and one now in the USA.

There really is something for the whole family, from your four-year-old upwards, and I can honestly say hubby was more excited than our two grandsons (Reuben and Reilly) – the phrase ‘boys and their toys’ definitely springs to mind. Some of the little ones will be height restricted – but this really applies to driving the bigger equipment.

Your entry ticket covers the main rides, drives and optional extra activities, such as dodgems and quad bikes are charged at £1 per attraction. Booking on line gives a great discount, however, there are no refunds should you have to cancel. With such brilliant names like Spindizzy, Dippy Ducks and Dirt Diggers, you know you are going to have a great time. Mind you, I thought I could handle a trip on the Spindizzy, oh god how wrong I was!

Real JCB’s and Komatsu excavators offer thrills and excitement, for the under 17’s there is a chance to drive an electric car – have to say the grandsons loved this (it was a joy to see a teenager smile!) Although there is a height restriction for this ride of 140cm.

An indoor soft play area can be found alongside a well-stocked cafeteria. Gift vouchers are available along with adult experience days – offering adrenalin pumping thrills such as Dumper Racing and Monster Digger Experience – what more can you ask for. Obviously, there is an obligatory gift shop, but hand on heart it was a great day out, a unique venture and all of the park staff were amazing, helpful and friendly, and with free car parking and electric vehicle charging – what is there not to love!

Have I whet your appetite yet – hubby can’t wait for a return visit.
