Westgate Carr Farm Camping & Caravan Park

Carr Road, Pickering, North Yorkshire.

An amazing adult/couples only campsite, located in the Vale of Pickering. A single-track road leads you to this peaceful, off the beaten track farm, where owners David & Karen offer a friendly welcome and happily show you to your pitch. Passing a lovely pond, with wandering ducks and chickens, you will drive round a well-manicured lawn, to find level gravelled pitches, most fully serviced with wooden picnic bench to boot.

Set in a beautiful setting of open countryside, guaranteed of no noise or light pollution, Westgate Carr Farm delivers what it promises on their website, and so well situated to be within walking distance to Pickering town.

Information packs are provided, containing the low down on the site facilities, local eateries and general info. Electricity is charged separately and the showers are coin operated – £1 for seven minutes of hot water (this was very hot and non adjustable). The toilet block is functional and clean with music playing throughout the day, and my only wish would have been for a second shower in each block, along with a seat inside the shower cubicle if there was room, but this is a minor wish.

A washing machine is available upon request at £4 per load, an outside dishwashing sink and drainer located at the end of the toilet block and an information hut full of tourist blurb, booklets, puzzles and reading books to loan. Oh, and before I forget, a requirement of the park is the use of eco-friendly green toilet fluid. If you find you have forgotten this, don’t worry Karen will have some you can purchase.

Four legged friends are welcome, with lovely walks around the adjacent field, but they must remain on a lead and be sure not to upset or worry the farm animals.

Limited seasonal pitches are available and to be honest hubby and I could be very tempted to consider this for next year, if David and Karen have availability.
